AbstractAsymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is a modem technology that converts an ordinary phone line into a high-speed digital pipe for ultra-fast access to the Internet and corporate networks while also enabling real-time multimedia services. This article features the benefits and deployment of ASDL, multiple service delivery provided together by ADSL and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). Other access technologies are also introduced.
