| Abstract | In this article, the author attempts to identify the main characteristics of the Hong Kong way of life , and how these have taken shape in the course of the Colony's 150-year history. Whether the different values inherent to this way of life add up to a true identity, and to what extent this identity is compatible with China's patriotic appeals to the populatoion of Hong Kong, summarised by anthor expression: "Love the motherland, love Hong Kong!" (ai Guo, ai Gang) are also featured. |
