| Abstract | In Taiwan's 1996 parliamentary elections showed that cable television has now become a key part of each campaign. During the ensuing six months, the three parties tried their best to draw on the strengths of this new medium, particularly the New Party, whose candidates showed up almost three times more often on television than those of the other parties.
