| Abstract | Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) enables business computers in companies to transmit data electronically over telephone lines, and have data input directly into a trading partner's business application. Having been developed for more than 30 years, today's EDI can significantly help traders improve response time, reduce paperwork, and eliminate the potential for transcription errors. This article traces the development of EDI in Hong Kong. |
