AbstractWarriors and mythical beasts were back in action in Beijing recently, some 1,400 years after they had made up the guard of honour for a long forgotten king. The characters are depicted in a huge fresco, the centrepiece of a recent exhibition at the capital's Museum of the Chinese Revolution. Measuring 37 metres by 8.3 metres, the fresco once adorned the passage leading to the burial chamber of a Northern Qi dynasty (550-577) king. He was entombed in Cixian county, near Handan, in north China's Hebei province - about 350km south of Beijing.
