| Abstract | Two weeks into the life of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), some 500 people marched on Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa's offices, carrying banners and chanting slogans. At the Star Ferry pier, ex-legislator and union leader Lee Cheuk-yan staged a five-day hunger strike. "Hong Kong is entering the dark ages of being run by big business," he complained. The protests had been sparked by legislative initiatives. |
