Abstract | 1st July 1997 marks, among other major changes, the fourth anniversary of the introduction into Chinese law of the Maritime Code, a radical enactment introduced as a special law. It was specially designed to deal with commercial aspects of maritime law and to reflect international developments, particularly implementing many of the principles of the international conventions which previously did not apply in China. This article talks about how the Maritime Code has fared, four years down the road. |
