AbstractIn recent decades, Hong Kong has undergone many changes. It has become highly technological and because of increasing easy access to information, the emphasis of many jobs has shifted from skill-based to manipulation of information. In order to meet this change, universal education was put in place. The impact of universal education is especially marked in the subject of mathematics. In the past few years, there have been many attempts made to instigate innovations in the mathematics curriculum but they did not seem to attain pleasing results. The time is now ripe for a change.
