| Abstract | In this article, the author comments that showing no let-up in their coverage of human rights in China, the Western media continue to concentrate on variations of the same themes - Tibet, Taiwan and Chinese dissidents either in exile or China. The three areas are interconnected and are, basically, questions of democracy and freedom. Such obsession is grossly misplaced and misleading because the Western media completely disregards much important progress China has made over the last decade in its efforts to establish and expand democratic institutions, the rule of law and freedom of speech. |
