| Abstract | In January 1997, the International Rugby Football Board (IRB) is set to officially welcome China as a full member of the world rugby community. It is a prospect which has rugby pundits world-wide highly excited. Membership in the IRB would also give China access to funds and coaching staff to develop the sport. More importantly in Hong Kong, say local officials, it will mean the survival of the game in the territory well after the handover. |
