| Abstract | The author believes that the vast majority of Hong Kong people will overcome the doomsday fears which some local leaders and their British sympathisers have engineered or fanned. He is absolutely sure all along that the Chinese government will allay public concerns with the right gestures and also the right responses at the right time. With the British administration gone now, he believes Hong Kong people will move full speed towards reconciliation and he accepts that, whatever quarrels we may have, these are family feuds which can only be properly and calmly settled inside our own house without troubling others whose care we gratefully acknowledge but whose meddling we politely reject. |
