Abstract | The Preparatory Committee's (PC) economic panel was recently briefed on the proposal of the Western Corridor Railway (WCR) by the Hong Kong secretary of transport and officials of the Kowloon Canton Railway Corp. PC members asked the government to reconsider the WCR's alignment, construction cost, cost-effectiveness, and its coordination with mainland railway construction. In this article, the author, as an architect, also chief executive officer of the Architectural Group and a member of the Consultative Committee on the New Airport and Related Projects, makes the case for a fresh look at the WCR. |
