| Abstract | Thirty-six hours that went around the world. From midday on the last day of 15 years as a British possession to the end of the first full day of Chinese rule, Hong Kong was the focal point of international attention. The brief was to record Hong Kong's return to China in all its detail - from the dramatic moments that will find their way into the history books to scenes of ordinary people going about their everyday lives. The photographers fanned out across the territory to come back with these images. This is a collection of pictures taken on 30 June and 1 July 1997. |
