| Abstract | According to a lecturer in Law of the University of Hong Kong, gift giving is endemic to the Chinese culture, and as long as it's within reason it does not have to entail a bribe. The gift may be part and parcel of a guanxi relationship. But often it has to be understood against the Hong Kong legal background, and under the Hong Kong legal background it may be considered illegal. |
