| Abstract | Warren Mok, a Hong Kong tenor, both produced and sang in a presentation of Gounod's Romeo and Juliet in Shanghai in 1996. According to Mok, there is a huge hunger for classical Western opera in China. With China's enthsiasm and Hong Kong's unique facilities, this kind of music could really take off. He sees a host of opportunities for the growth of opera after Hong Kong reverts to China in July 1997. |
