| Abstract | The People's Republic of China and the United States on 2 February 1997, signed a new, four-year textile agreement after months of often difficult negotiations. The new agreement contains four major changes in the previous 1992 agreement. In general, the new Sino-US textile agreement is good news for Hong Kong's textile industry. However, there are a few categories where the quota reductions will hurt Hong Kong companies and the tighter surveillance of Chinese exports could cause some problems. This article provides an overview of the Agreement. |
