| Abstract | In June 1992, agreement was reached in the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group that the two conventions - the 1996 International convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage (the CLC) and the 1971 International convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage (the Fund Convention) - would continue to apply in Hong Kong after 30 June 1997 with China taking over from the United Kingdom the assumption of the international rights and obligations arising from the applicaton of the two conventions in Hong Kong. |
