AbstractThis paper tells the story of a historian-teacher educator who sees meanings and fluidity of the connections between academic history and school history. This story is about how the notion of "history in the making" became part of the lived experience of history teachers who were enrolled in the courses on Subject and Curriculum Teaching of Chinese History and World History in the Diploma-in-Education Programme for the two academic years of 1994-95 and 1995-96, offered by the Faculty of Education at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. This paper incorporates stories from projects, classroom discussion, outside classroom conversation and school visits.
