AbstractConsumption of make-up in China has been growing by about 40 per cent a year since 1994, according to research conducted by Asian Strategies Limited (ASL). A study surveyed 55 department stores from 11 cities in China and compared to a similar ASL study conducted in 1994, results show that the market has "changed quite substantially over the last two years," said ASL managing director Paul Woodward. The biggest markets lie in the large cities - Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen - where women are in the workforce and are more likely to be influenced by Western culture.
