| Abstract | China is a developing country, with a very weak foundation for a telecommunications network. The insufficiency in the telecommunications capacity and shortage of services had been a major factor affecting China's opening up to the outside world and restricting China's economic growth. China's telecommunications sector is now in a period of takeoff, with the scale of networks fast expanding. This article traces the telecommunications development in China. China's strategy objectives and co-operation with other countries in developing telecommunications are also described. |
