Abstract | Liu Pang-yu, who had headed Taoyuan county of Taiwan since 1989, was murdered in his home along with a county councilor (another survived), two security guards, a secretary, a driver, a cook and the wife of the county Agricultural Bureau chief. All were shot in the head execution-style. Investigators say they believe the murder was a result of "conflicts of interest," such as Liu's determination to demolish a street of illegally erected triad-owned entertainment establishments in Chungli city. |
