Abstract | This article is a book review on The Waning of the Communist State: Economic Origins of Political Decline in China and Hungary authored by Andrew G. Walder. In a recent work on the weakening of communist regimes, the American China specialist, Andrew Walder, adds a comparative dimension to his analysis of Chinese reforms. Surrounded by a team of researchers for the occasion, he puts China into perspective alongside the Hungarian experience. People should be grateful for this project, as China studies are not very partial to comparisions. |
