| Abstract | The return of Hong Kong to Chinese sovereignty is a matter of major concern to the people of Hong Kong. The present achievements of Hong Kong are due to three factors: the rule of law, its unique space to manoeuvre and, most important, the special quality of Hong Kong people. As the author says, Hong Kong and the mainland have different systems, concepts and lifestyles. That is why the one-country, two-systems principle is needed. Of course, Hong Kong people have to continue to perfect the political system in Hong Kong. At the same time, China should accept and adapt to it with understanding. He has never suspected the sincerity of China in implementing the policy of one-country, two-systems. But China should effectively let all Hong Kong people understand its policies and intention, which are reasonable and for the good of Hong Kong. |
