| Abstract | Construction of the data communication network of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) first began in 1985 in coordination with the development of CAAC's computer systems for passenger and freight services. It was planned to be an open network system for multi-purposes of the real-time, distributed control design that would be compatible with different levels of computer hardware and terminals in the global wide area. It was also desired that, in operation, the network should be relatively independent of the different application systems. The scope of application of the network, present conditions of the network and plans of network extension are described in this article. |
