AbstractThe maker of Ethocyn, Nasdaq-listed Chantal Skin Care Corp, marketing manager Katherine Locke says the company has been inundated with calls from regional distributors since attending a cosmetics conference in Hong Kong. The company says it has spent US$20 million on research for Ethocyn, which sells in 1,600 retail outlets in the US. It is in the final stages of preparations for launches in Europe and Asia, and the telemarketing campaign hopes to precede direct retail sales. Asia's cosmetics markets have been enjoying a boom feeling. Major cosmetics purveyors, such as L'Oreal and Revlon, are opening joint ventures in China and scoping out the market. Local market research institutions have had many requests for studies on China's cosmetics market.
