Abstract | A report compiled by Empolyment Conditions Abroad (ECA) International, a British-based advisory group, is used by managers in many companies to help calculate what allowances to pay their overseas staff. ECA has 800 member companies around the world and, as well as its own research, uses feedback from members on many of the aspects that affect expats. In 1995, Hong Kong was ranked alongside major Western capitals in group A. The main attractions: high rewards, shops and restaurants galore, abundant creature comforts and a big expat community support group. But ECA's latest Location Ranking Survey drops it into group B. |
