Abstract | An enduring Western view of Hong Kong's economic success is that Asian products are cheaper, more compact, even more efficient, but not new. Asians do not invent things. The new Hong Kong Inventors Association aims to explode this myth. It says local inventors - often holding down full-time jobs while working in their spare time - are a largely untapped resource. The group wants to bring them together with investors to develop their ideas commercially. The association, established in March 1996, is planning a seminar at the end of November 1996 to showcase local inventions. At the moment, businesses do not know where to go for new inventions. |
