AbstractEarlier 1996 Dr Ho Sai-wah, a cardiologist and researcher at Queen Mary Hospital, warned of the potential danger of mobile phones to people fitted with pacemakers. He said it was possible the phones could stop the devices working for a few seconds. In Novembr 1996, he tells the authors, transmitters could have the same dangerous potential that would depend on the level of emitted power of the transmitter. To further ensure that these areas remain inaccessible to the public, one of their recommendations was for warning signs to be put up. In order not to unnecessarily scare the public, the study also recommends that warning signs need only be put in areas - for example the access point of a water tank - that exceed the limit of exposure.
