| Abstract | Since 1987 when analog mobile communications service was opened to the public in Shanghai and Guangzhou, such service in China has been expanding at an annual rate of over 100%, far exceeding the expectation of experts. The total number of mobile phone subscribers reached 1.57 million in 1994 and 3.62 miiion in 1995, up 145.6% and 132% respectively over the previous years. Subscribers to GSM (global system for mobile communications) mobile phone service totalled 150,000. A list of features in the development of cellular mobile phone service are shown in this article. |
