| Abstract | "Octopus" has been selected as the name of the Contactless Smartcard. The Contactless Smartcard system is being introduced to provide a modern ticketing system with a significantly improved level of convenience, reliability, flexibility and security. The aim is that passengers will ultimately be able to use one card for travelling on all modes of public transport in Hong Kong. A new company, Creative Star Limited was formed by the five operators in 1994 to develop and operate this Smartcard system. |
