| Abstract | Economists in the 1990s are fortunate to witness social changes of an enormous scale, notably the emergence of 'market socialism' in China, which provide golden opportunities for them to re-examine current theories and propose new ones. The Hong Kong Institute of Economic Science (IES) was honoured to have the presence of Professor Gregory C. Chow at an economic seminar on the evening of 21st June 1996 to share with the fellow members his insightful observations. |
