| Abstract | In light of the increasing globalization of Asian corporations, The Asiaweek 1000 no longer excludes the mammoth non-Asian businesses of Japanese companies in comparing them with other enterprises. Thus, from 1996's list, all the 1000 companies will be ranked by consolidated sales, including local and foreign subsidiaries. Comments of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are included.
