Abstract | Hong Kong's economy has matured in recent years, with growth driven increasingly by the expanding service sector. The growing service sector, benefiting from booming regional trade, has given fresh impetus to Hong Kong's economy. But the progress towards a more service-oriented structure also suggests a relatively slower, albeit steadier, growth pattern for Hong Kong's economy in the future. In addition, the economic issues that Hong Kong is likely to face will be quite different from those in the past. Maintaining external competitiveness, particularly in the service sector, will be one of the main challenges. |
