| Abstract | The United States Customs was rumoured in early December 1996 to be planning to place six more items on its "watch list" for illegal transshipments, making 10 in all. Two teams of United States Customs officials, each of two inspectors, were due to resume inspecting the local textile factories on 5 Janaury 1997, after similar visits in September 1996. In preparation for the inspections to be made in January 1997, a United States Customs team arrived in mid-December 1996 to examine, in full cooperation with the Hong Kong government, the territory's records of textile shipments. |
