Abstract | Nasdaq, which started in 1971, has two tiers for listing: The Nasdaq National Market (securities of well-established companies) and The Nasdaq SmallCap Market (smaller, emerging companies with less demanding listing requirements). Nasdaq is a computerised market to unite its participants and enable securities firms to compete with each other in a screen-based, floorless market. Nasdaq is also unique in using multiple market makers - independent dealers who openly compete with one another for investors' orders in each Nasdaq security. There are 5,200 companies listed. The steps to list on Nasdaq are also found in this article. |
