Article TitleThree genetrations of trade with Europe.
Is Part OfThe executive ; v.17, no.10, Oct 1996, p.18, illus.
AbstractJebsen & Co. is the oldest Hong Kong company trading with Germany. It is 101 years since two Danish brothers began trading between China and Europe, when goods could take six months to arrive. The company is still run by the Jebsens in 1996 into the third generation in Hong Kong. The main business of the company had always been with German companies, but two world wars put a damper on that. Although it has lost some of the main agencies, such as Lufthansa, Volkswagen, and Mercedes who have their own companies in Hong Kong, Germany is still the main trading partner and trade with that country continues to grow.
