AbstractA three year prospective study was carried out in United Christian Hospital in Hong Kong to assess the complications arising from thrombolytic agents used in Chinese patients with acute myocardial infarction. The main complications were bleeding, hypotension and skin rash. Subgroup analysis revealed inferior myocardial infarction to be associated with more thrombolytic therapy related complications and that there was no difference in complication rate between thrombolytic agents given in accident and emergency department and in coronary care unit. Further analysis of the study is provided in this article.
