AbstractSpeaking at an American Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Hong Kong, Time Asia editor Donald Morrison said that weekly news publications need to "give readers what they want a week before they want it," in order to make the current news-stand issue relevant and topical. He was optimistic on Hong Kong's future after 1997's handover, as he believed freedom of the press was enshrined in the Rule of Law even though a Time issue containing a story about Mao Zedong had been stopped by customs officers as it came in China.
