Abstract | This article introduces the book Asia's Deadly Triangle written by Kent Calder. In this book, Calder, the director of US-Japan Relations at Princeton University in the United States, has painted too sensational a picture. The worst case scenario must never be ignored but the cautious optimists also deserve a hearing. Provided a modicum of commonsense is exercised by governments, Asia should continue its prosperous advance, as far as one can see ahead, undisturbed by the disruption of war. |
