Abstract | Hong Kong's poor performance in international competition has been attributed to the emphasis on business acumen rather than sporting prowess. When windsurfer Lee Lai-shan came back from Atlanta with a gold medal, Hong Kong Sports Development Board chief executive Andrew Ma rubbed his hands and predicted a boost to Hong Kong's lacklustre sporting culture. Tennis is one of the sports being promoted in Hong Kong. This article discusses whether the powers-that-run-tennis are doing enough to save the game. |
