Abstract | Hong Kong's exports are expected to stage a recovery in the second half of 1996 with a rebound in the global economy, according to the issue of the Hong Seng Economic Monthly. In view of the sluggish 4.9 percent growth in the first seven months in 1996, however, total exports would only grow by six percent for 1996 as a whole - much slower than the 14.9 percent registered in 1995. In the short term, Hong Kong's export performance would be aided by the improvement in Sino-Taiwan relations, the speeding up of tax rebate reimbursements to China's exporters, and the partial relaxation of credit conditions in China. |
