| Abstract | The concerns expressed over Hong Kong's competitiveness as it restructures from a manufacturing to a service-based economy have led to the government allocating HK$6.7 million to set up the fourth branch of the Hongkong Productivity Council (HKPC), one devoted to promoting service industry productivity in Hong Kong. The new services branch that the HKPC is setting up will look into which niche markets Hongkong should tackle, and how to focus into those higher value-added areas to help Hongkong move into the year 2000. |
