| Abstract | Italian giant, Pirelli, is well known for making motor parts and motor-racing tyres. Far less familiar to the public is its world leadership in the production of millions of miles of cable, for which demand looks everlasting. The executives who run Pirelli Cables Asia were in Hong Kong in early September 1996, for the birth of the long-awaited US$30 million joint venture with Citic Pacific. The partners will run a cable-manufacturing plant near Shanghai - in Wuxi, Jiangsu province - to capitalize on China's expanding telecommunications market. |
