Abstract | Disagreeing with an official's list of qualifications for the first chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the author lists, in this article, the real qualifications for the position. He criticized the official of caring only for his own political future and the fortunes of his motherland, Britain, that is. The author also comments that, Hong Kong governors appointed by their countries, either Britain or Japan, in the past 155 years, are selected to suit the ruling countries' political, military or trading priorities without any regard for the welfare of the Hong Kong people. He provides a list of the 31 governors appointed during the period. |
