| Abstract | China's urban planners will have future use of a massive multiple-index data bank of statistics and other information obtained during a 627-city public facility census, taken on 30 June 1995 by the Ministry of Construction and State Statistics Bureau. Overall findings of the census were released in Beijing in early August 1996. Study of the findings of the census reveals many areas where there is either lack of change or where modernization is just beginning. The latter underscores China's need for huge investment in its urban infrastructure. This article looks into the issue. |
