| Abstract | Hong Kong's trade balance is looking bleak. Statistics just out for June 1996, widely expected by analysts to show a growth in the territory's total exports, produced a five per cent decline year-on-year. That exceeded even the dismal performance of the first six months of the year when export growth, domestic exports and re-exports combined, was limited to 4.3 per cent year-on-year, compared with 14.2 per cent growth in the first half of the 1995. |
