| Abstract | From January to April, reports Chinese customs, the nation's foreign-trade volume was US$79.96 billion, a modest 3.7 per cent increase against the same period of 1995. There seems to be a slowdown in the decline of exports which alarmed trade observers in the first quarter of 1996. On a year-by-year basis, the four months' exports decreased by 7.7 per cent, one percentage point less than during the first quarter. |
