AbstractConstruction progress at Chek Lap Kok, site for Hong Kong's new airport, has not been confined to any one area but is platform-wide, says the Airport Authority's Head of Construction. The project is on target for completion on time for an April 1998 opening. Private sector investment in the new airport has now reached more than HK$20 billion (US$2.56 billion) and Hong Kong Government facilities HK$5.5 billion (US$705 million). The southernmost part of the island is the focal point for most of these developments. This article provides the updated news on the airport's franchises and facilities.
