Abstract | Although Hong Kong had a proud record of control of infectious diseases, the territory will not be immune to the re-emergence and emergence of new infections, especially as Hong Kong poises to become the travel and commerce hub of East Asia. The global crisis is looming. With eternal vigilance, sound surveillance, and sustained co-operation from all parties concerned, Hong Kong can hopefully minimize the threat and maintain its success in the battle against infectious diseases right into the next century. |
