Abstract | The Internet was once solely the domain of academic, medical, and defence institutes, but now anyone can get on. And around 40 million people worldwide (300,000 of those are Hong Kong users) are now estimated to be hooked up to what is often referred to as the largest computer network in the world. To get onto the Internet one need an account with a third party, an Internet service provider (ISP). There are more than 50 ISPs in Hong Kong, all fighting for subscribers. |
